Problem The 750m² roof at The Heath Cafe Bar at Therfield Heath had an aged, cracked, and delaminating felt surface with multiple leaks. This required urgent renovation, while the café beneath the roof remained operational six days a week, demanding a quick and efficient solution with minimal disruption to customers.
Solution Octa Design & Build recommended the Restec FLEXITEC system, valued for its rapid curing time (30-60 minutes per coat). The roof was thoroughly prepared, including primer application and repair of the substrate. Special attention was given to detailing the 16 roof lights which were historically problematic zones for leaks. Also to the complex areas of the hexagonal roof shape and 16 sided roof area, ensuring the integrity and design were preserved.
Result The renovation was completed on time, with the FLEXITEC system proving effective even under challenging conditions, thanks to its superior ease of application and exceptional flexibility. Despite the vast size of the roof, the team of 2 managed to carry out the project with precision, meeting deadlines and minimizing disruptions, ensuring the roof was fully waterproof and structurally sound for the client.
