Heath Cafe Bar
A 750m² hexagonal café roof with sixteen facets and sixteen rooflights, refurbished by a two-man team without ever closing the business.
The challenge
The 750m² roof over this café was covered in weathered, cracked felt that was lifting away from the substrate. An urgent refurbishment was needed, and it had to be fast and efficient to let the hospitality business keep trading.
The solution
The contractor chose FLEXITEC for its rapid cure times of 30 to 60 minutes per coat. The old covering was repaired and primed, with particular attention paid to the sixteen rooflights that had been persistent leak points, and to the complex hexagonal roof form with its sixteen separate facets. The original design of the roof was preserved.
The result
The refurbishment finished on schedule. FLEXITEC proved itself in difficult conditions thanks to its easy application and flexibility, especially around detailing. Despite the size of the roof, the two-man team worked precisely and on time. The roof was structurally secured and permanently waterproofed with a 20-year guarantee, and the café never had to close.
